I am among those trying to catch the last rays of sunshine on the beach before heading back to the house to take the first outside shower of the year with a beverage of choice, mine being a summer shandy beer. Summer on LBI marks the beginning of another great season of memories to be made. He sat right in the middle of my table to join the fun and play with the design used to create the mood to welcome in the summer star (the sun). Even my cat got into my summer solstice ritual this year, and I mean that literally. The first day of summer was a rainy one, but the dance must – and did – go on.
The days may already be getting shorter, but this will never deter me from getting my summer on. The summer solstice dance, outside-shower beers, shellabration garden replenishment, the first summer sunburn (which I do not recommend) – so much to do and so little time as the daylight starts to shift after June 21.
